Parents/Guardians must complete these forms which are available from the Registrar. 

Boarding Suitability Process

The following outlines the process required:

  1. Parents or Guardians should submit the Application Form and Parental Boarding Suitability Form to the School by 15 June 2020, although late applications will also be considered subject to spaces.
  2. The School completes the Boarding Suitability process by obtaining a Boarding Suitability reference from the applicant's current/previous school and, subject to a satisfactory reference, will invite the applicant and their parents to visit the School for a tour and a boarding suitability interview.
  3. The School will notify parents of the outcome of their child’s Boarding Suitability.
  4. Formal offer and decline letters will be sent out to parents by 30 June 2020.

The closing date for completed applications is 15 June 2020.

Please:

  1. Please request confirmation of receipt to be sent by email.
  2. If the application is submitted in person, please request a receipt.

We cannot accept responsibility for lost forms where a receipt has not been obtained from the School.

It is the responsibility of the applicant’s parent(s) to contact the School if they do not receive the following documents:

  1. Invitation to the Suitability Interview.
  2. A letter advising whether the applicant is suitable for boarding.
  3. A letter advising of an offer or rejection by 3 July 2020.
  4. Written confirmation of receipt.
  5. An invitation to present their appeal in person by the time stated in the appeal confirmation letter (if the applicant is unsuccessful in their application).

Appeals

Under the Education Act parents have the right to appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel against a decision not to offer their child a place. The Appeal arrangements will be in line with the Code of Practice on School Admission Appeals published by the Department for Education.

Applications open, references requested and interviews held to assess Boarding Suitability. Visit to school site required.

Applications to be made by the 15 June 2020 to accommodate School reference requests from current/previous Schools.

From September 2019

Individual visits and tours:

Location: Duke of York's Royal Military School, Dover, Kent, CT15 5EQ.

Tour of the facilities with a student escort available subject to current/previous School references.

 

Letters sent out advising of suitability for boarding after process completed for each applicant.

30 June 2020

Formal offer and decline letters sent out to parents by this date.

16 July 2020

Deadline for written acceptance of places by parents.

Please note that we will consider late applications for years 7, 8 and 9 subject to available places. Late applications for Years 10 and 12 will be considered up to the end of the Autumn term 2019 subject to available places.
