Students, dressed in No1 “Blues” uniforms, lined the route whilst members of the 1st XV Rugby team and girls 1st XV Hockey team pulled a World War II jeep, symbolically transporting Mr Russell to the School gate. He was escorted by CCF officers. The School band played a selection of seasonal tunes.
Later that evening, Mr Russell read the ninth lesson during our Service of Nine Lessons and Carols in the Military Chapel of St Michael and St George.
On Thursday the 8th December, Mr Russell led the final Chapel service of the Year. The School Colours were present and the School hymn was sung. Following the lighting of the fifth candle for advent, Mr Russell shared twelve inspirational things that he has learned about Dukies since his appointment as Executive Principal. He told students that they should always follow their dreams and be confident in themselves; seize the moment; take advantage of opportunities; and above all, apply “Dukie” spirit in all that they do.
