Year 7 to Year 9 (Key Stage 3)

Nearly all subjects are covered at Key Stage 3 level including English, maths, science, 

music, geography, history, art, physical education, religious education and languages. 

Students will also be able to try resistant materials, textiles, food technology, dance 

and drama – often on a rotational basis.  Students gain a good foundation in all areas 

of the syllabus.

Year 10 and Year 11 (Key Stage 4) – GCSE and BTEC examinations

These two years of study are extremely important for students as they embark on 

GCSE subjects that will help influence their future careers.  Our GCSE offer is 

comprehensive and our success rate is significantly higher than the national average 

(A*-C including Maths and English).

Compulsory ‘core’ subjects are studied which include English Language, English 

Literature (EBacc), Mathematics, Additional Science and Triple Science.

In addition, compulsory subjects which aren’t examined at the end of the two years 

are Personal, Social, Health and Economic Wellbeing Education (PSHEE), Physical 

Education and Religious Education.

Students can also choose four optional subjects from a wide range of options 

including History, Geography, Music, Modern Foreign Languages, ICT, Computing, 

Physical Education (Academic), Food Technology, Resistant Materials Technology, 

Textiles Technology, Photography, Dance, Drama, and Art and Design .
