Admissions Arrangements
The Academy will admit a total of 56 students into Year 7 in September 2012. To apply to the Academy applicants should be aware of the following:
1. Applicants should reach the age of 11 during the year 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013.
2. The Academy is required by the Department for Education to take part in the Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme. For an explanation of how the Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme works, please refer to your resident Local Authority’s (LA) secondary schools booklet (see Local Authority Common Application form information).
3. Applicants MUST complete the following to be considered for a place at the Academy:
a) A Boarding Suitability Application Form (BSAF) and attend an interview to assess their suitability for boarding.
b) The LA Common Application Form (CAF) and name the Academy as one of the preferences.
The Academy is unable to consider an application where the applicant has not attended the boarding suitability interview and named the Academy on the LA CAF.
If the Academy is over subscribed it will not be able to guarantee that a place will become available for your child. It is therefore essential that you apply to other schools as well.
