Marching Band

A Full Military Marching Band

We are enormously proud to be one of only two military schools in the country to have a full Military Marching Band, incorporating a core of 28 drummers and buglers. No-one could fail to be moved by the spectacular sight and sound of its 90 members leading the school’s regular Sunday Parades.

We find that participating in the band helps pupils appreciate the value of teamwork – and gives them the chance to show off their considerable instrumental skills.

Talent and Enthusiasm

Marching Band members are from Year 9 to 13 and are hand picked for their talent and enthusiasm. As a military academy our music is challenging to play, and pupils earn their place, rehearsing three times a week. To signify membership, the musicians have extra accoutrements on their Parade uniforms and wear a cap, distinct from the usual beret.

The Marching Band truly comes into its own on splendid occasions such as the school’s prestigious Grand Day, and has had the great honour of playing at Lord’s Cricket Ground at international matches, and at Army/Navy rugby matches at Twickenham.
