Former Dukie plays in Heineken cup tie against Northampton
Former Dukie, Matt Gilbert, who attended the school a few years ago, played for Llanelli Scarlets RFC this month in their Heineken cup tie against Northampton. It was his European debut. He had a fantastic game, although conceding a penalty almost as soon as he got on the pitch, leading to 3 points for Northampton. He soon made amends by scoring Llanelli’s third try of the game. As well as playing for the school firsts, Matt played for Dover RFC, and after leaving school was selected for the deaf England rugby team.
The sky sports commentators last night mentioned what an inspiration Matt must be for any youngster who suffers from deafness.
