Remembrance Sunday Parade

On Saturday 13 November, the whole school took part in the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade. The salute taken by Mr Edward Bartlett (President of the OBA) and Mr Kevin Bond (Chairman).

A large “old Boy” / former pupil contingent took part in the parade, and consisted of both younger and older members of the Association. There was huge support from parents and former pupils.

A solemn two minute silence was held at the School Cenotaph and wreaths laid by Chief School Prefect Hugo Catmur and the President of the OBA Mr Bartlett.

At the conclusion of the parade  a Chapel service was held. The School Colours were laid on the alter on behalf of the OBA by Vice president Dennis Dumper, and Captain Mark Windsor RN (School Governor) delivered a thought provoking service, linking the act of Remembrance to both past and current military operations.

There was then time to “catch up” over tea and coffee in the Nye Hall, where there was much interest in the school’s “Then and Now” project to gather the recollections of former “Dukies”
