Spanish Exchange 2011

From Friday 1st April, 5 Dukies went for a week in Madrid to visit our partners from El Colegio Nuestra Señora del Loreto.  This is a secondary School for the sons and daughters of Spanish Air Force personnel in Madrid.  They were warmly welcomed by their host families and had an exhaustive programme of visits and activities. Highlights of the week included witnessing the change of the Horse Guards in the King’s Palace (Palacio Real), visiting the Real Madrid Stadium (see photograph) and Museum, the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the day at the Theme Park (Parque de Attracciones). Our 5 Dukies immersed themselves with great enthusiasm into the Spanish culture and language as well as making new friends.

As well as our pupils visiting Madrid each year a larger group of Spanish pupils visit us in Dover.  We now enjoy active exchanges with 4 Schools on 2 different Continents.
