About Us

Principal’s Welcome

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is steeped in proud military tradition which provides the foundation for our ethos and values. This legacy enriches our educational environment, however, what truly showcases the excellence of our School is our students, affectionately known as Dukies, once they join our community.

Being a Dukie transcends mere student status; it embodies a profound sense of belonging and camaraderie, a sanctuary for stability. We take great pride in offering a supportive and nurturing environment not only to the children of Armed Forces personnel but also to students from diverse backgrounds. As a home-from-home, we extend our arms to families who resonate with our values and seek the exceptional opportunities provided through the experience of being a Dukie.

At the core of our philosophy is the holistic development of each child, emphasising life skills and leadership within an academically focussed framework. Our goal is clear: to foster achievement through diligence, support, and the cultivation of individual talents. Through our distinctive approach to education, we offer an abundance of co-curricular activities, enabling students to explore and develop character beyond the conventional curriculum; an all-round education where Dukies make outstanding progress, leading them to impressive destinations.

If you are contemplating your child’s educational journey, I encourage you to consider the Duke of York’s Royal Military School for its unique blend of qualities. Our students are the heartbeat of our School, and I would be delighted for you to visit us, meet our exceptional young people, and witness first-hand the enriching experiences we offer. Joining us as a Dukie means becoming part of a cherished and unique family for life. A Dukie looks forward with confidence and looks back with pride.
