Our careers and higher education guidance is tailored to individual aspirations through our dedicated Careers Leader and Independent Careers Advisors.
We aim to:
Students at our School benefit greatly from attending Careers Workshops facilitated by our Independent Careers Advisors. These sessions allow us to offer detailed and personalised career guidance to each student, helping them navigate their post-18 pathways effectively.
Furthermore, we organise highly anticipated “Dukies Inspiring Dukies” events and a Careers Fair, inviting alumni back to share insights into their professions. These events foster valuable connections between students and professionals across various fields, including engineering, healthcare, law, and the military.
With a well-equipped Library, featuring a dedicated careers section, students have access to a wealth of resources covering university courses, apprenticeships, gap years, student finance, armed forces careers, and more.
Moreover, in PSHEE lessons, students receive assistance in crafting CVs, researching potential career paths, and participating in mock job interviews, equipping them with essential skills for their future endeavours.
The Library is a vibrant centre of information, allowing students full access to both resources and quiet study areas. With around 8,000 items, the library is run by a full-time, qualified School Librarian.
Alongside a wide-ranging selection of fiction to encourage reading for pleasure, all GCSE, BTEC and A Level subjects are supported by an extensive range of up-to-date non-fiction and information material. Themed reading lists are available to assist the direction of independent study: our comprehensive collection of newspapers and magazines covers many subjects of personal interest as well as academic topics.
Members of staff are happy to support independent study and to help with revision at all times, and Examination Board specific revision guides and study aids are available both for loan and as reference copies.
We also liked the homely library, with 8000 books, where students can chill, take part in library lessons and are greatly encouraged to read for pleasure and read around their subjects. – Muddy Stilettos, Best Schools Guide
