All Sixth Formers have the chance to apply for a position as a Prefect, where they hone invaluable leadership, public speaking, and organisational skills. Prefects play a prominent role with diverse responsibilities across the school. They facilitate the induction process for new students, offering guidance and support during the settling-in period and also oversee activities in the Dining Hall and Chapel, provide assistance to Senior Houses, and contribute to the success of major school events.
To become a Prefect, students in Year 12 undergo a rigorous application process, including interviews conducted by members of the Senior Leadership Team. Among these, the prestigious position of Chief School Prefect is annually appointed, supported by two Senior Prefects and approximately 20 Prefects.
Leadership Opportunities
Every Sixth Form student assumes at least one significant role, contributing to the School’s vibrant community through mentorship, prefect duties, or participation in our ceremonial duty system.

Ceremonial Positions
Many Year 13 students hold the honorary title of Junior Under Officer (JUO). Each JUO oversees a small guard comprising around 20 students from the other boarding houses. Their duties include ensuring the impeccable appearance and precise drill of their group. This responsibility is especially crucial during Grand Day, the most significant ceremonial event of the year, where they play a pivotal role in its smooth execution.
One selected student holds the notable role of Senior Under Officer, most prestigious cadet rank. It is there sole responsibility to lead all 500 students on parades.
Other Opportunities
Other leadership opportunities abound within our school community, including roles in the Combined Cadet Force, Sports Captains, Sport Leaders, Peer Listeners, Health Ambassadors, DofE Ambassadors, and Arts Captains.
