The Duke of York's Royal Military School

A co-educational boarding school for students aged 11-18

We are unique as the country’s only full boarding state school based on an independent school model with high quality education, unrivalled extra-curricular activities and outstanding facilities, yet with fees that make us a very affordable boarding option.

Many independent schools can charge about £10,000 per term; for 2019 / 20 we charge just £14,445 per YEAR (£4,815 per term) as you only pay for boarding fees as your child's education is paid for by the state. If you are serving and qualify for Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) you will only pay £1,156 per year.

It should be noted that we do not admit children with bad behaviour records because our status as a full boarding school means we have to be mindful of boarding suitability and the quality of life for all students. We say this because some parents considering DOYRMS may interpret ‘military’ in our title to indicate we are specialist in the disciplinary field. However, the ‘military’ is an important part of our history, traditions and values, of which we are proud. Essentially, we are a regular, although exceptional, school.

References from previous schools are mandatory, and if full disclosure has not been made by parents or schools regarding bad behaviour but later transpires, we reserve the right to withdraw our boarding suitability assessment which is essential to gain a place at DOYRMS.
