The Duke of York's Royal Military School

A co-educational boarding school for students aged 11-18

Virtual Learning

We have a very simple, but ambitious vision of providing an all-round education with a strong academic focus. During the COVID-19 outbreak, our academic focus has not reduced instead we have taken our teaching and learning online through virtual lessons.

As part of the Dukie package each student has their own School laptop and with the support of our IT Department we have implemented new technologies to assist in the virtual learning experience.

Interactive Virtual Lessons

While studying the southernmost continent and the race to the pole through virtual lessons, Year 7 Geography students found out whether they could dress adequately for a polar expedition.

Visualisers

Visualisers have been used in a variety of lessons from English to Maths to Science. The use of visualisers has enabled detailed lessons via video link to our students. We are able to make virtual lessons as close to the classroom as possible. Due to this, we have also been able to deliver new topics to our students and continue their learning through these unprecedented times.

Moving Modern Foriegn Languages Online

The MFL department have utilised a range of online language tools to provide languages lessons virtually. Lessons throughout the School continued through the Covid-19 lockdown period.
