The Duke of York's Royal Military School

A co-educational boarding school for students aged 11-18

Forces Families

The Duke of York's Royal Military School is highly recognised for educating and caring for children from Armed Forces families. Forces parents choose our School as we provide stability and continuity of education for their son or daughter in those all important secondary school years.

The School knows that due to work commitments, military families often have to be mobile and responsive, meaning that their children can sometimes attend six or more primary schools in their early years of education. The School ensures that any child joining us is fully assessed to understand what their progress level is, and academic staff will then work together with your child, to ensure that they catch up on their work, and are fully equipped to achieve the very best they can in their GCSEs and A Levels.

If you are a serving soldier who is mobile, you may qualify for Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). This ensures that your child will benefit from a quality education and well-rounded boarding school experience at a greatly discounted price. Qualifying for CEA means that you will only pay 8% of the annual boarding fee, which is just £569 per term. This covers all boarding fees, meals, laundry and exams. The only extras you would pay for are for your child's school uniform and sports uniform, as well as some extracurricular optional trips (such as skiing).

The Education Advisory Team (UK) provides information and advice to Service families and eligible MOD civilians on all aspects of the education of their children in the UK.

Many of our students come from Forces Families, and offer invaluable support to each other. Our pastoral staff fully understand what is required of serving personnel, and are available to offer additional support when needed.
