The Duke of York's Royal Military School

A co-educational boarding school for students aged 11-18

GRAND DAY CELEBRATIONS

End of year celebrations at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School began with the annual Prize Giving Ceremony, where students received awards for outstanding academic and sporting successes.

The school is unique among English schools in that it has the right to carry Colours due to the schools military heritage. The day saw some 500 students in full ceremonial uniform Troop the Colour after an inspection by guest of honour Colonel Carlos Mª Coira Torres.

The school’s 150-acre Kentish countryside site was also the background for a superb display of vintage military transport which included a Hawker Hurricane, M10 Achilles, and a Renault FT Tank. While the skies above saw an aerial display from a Spitfire and the Royal Logistic Corps Silver Stars Army Parachute Display Team.

Alex Foreman, the school’s Principal, said: “Every year we are delighted to celebrate the high achievements by our prize-winning students at our stunning whole school Grand Day which celebrates our unique military heritage. The entire event is led by our fantastic students who provided a magnificent display of our core values which are courage, integrity, respect, commitment, loyalty and self-discipline.”
