Musician of the Year 2022
The competition marks one of the highlights of the Music Department and the school.
This year’s lineup did not disappoint, with musical talent in abundance!
The Classical category saw stiff competition between Charlotte Flute, Aramide Violin, Denis Piano, and Dara Piano. Georgina Voice, Georgia Voice, Toba Voice, and Toby Electric Guitar gave outstanding performances in the Contemporary category.
Our lead judge this year was Mr Graham Harvey. Graham is a retired Royal Marine, Music Examiner and Musical Director of the White Cliffs Symphonic Winds.
Mr Harvey awarded first prize Classical to Aramide, who performed Romanza no.2 from Trois morceaux op.31 by Cecile Chaminade, and runner up to Charlotte performing Poulenc’s Flute Sonata. In the Contemporary category, Georgina took first place singing ‘Rise Up’ by Andra Day. Runner Up in this category was awarded to Toba, who sang Jamie Cullum’s ‘These are the Days’.
